Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Olympia, WA seeks a Network Security Architect to design and implement the security fabric for our environment, working hands-on with engineering through build and cutover, including firewall, segmentation, Zero Trust, and cloud network architecture in Microsoft Azure.

Reporting to the Director of Security Architecture and Engineering, you translate complex requirements into concrete configurations and stay ahead of threats with practical, implementable designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 7+ years in an information security architecture role.
• Experience with regulatory frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO 27001, COBIT, etc.).
• Hands-on firewall/configuration and cloud security experience.
• Proven ability to translate requirements into implementable designs.

Responsibilities

• Designs network security architecture from ground up including firewall policy, segmentation, and Zero Trust.
• Leads end-to-end migrations: assess, design target state, configure, and cutover.
• Collaborates with engineering during build and implementation to adjust designs in real time.
• Reviews existing architecture, identifies gaps, and remediates with hands-on work.
• Estimates work hours and scope for security architecture components.
• Serves as technical expert to engineering, IT, and business partners on design questions.
• Documents architecture drawings and configuration in detail, not just high-level diagrams.
• Works RSA tickets in ServiceNow and stays current on new security technologies.
