Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer - Network to drive reliability, scalability, and performance for our global network.

You will partner with software, operations, and network teams to codify standards, build automation, and shape architectural direction. You will mentor peers, define SLOs, and contribute to designing robust, scalable solutions for Akamai Connected Cloud.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in relevant roles or equivalent.
• Experience in Site/Network Reliability Engineering, Network Engineering, Software Engineering, or DevOps for large-scale distributed systems
• Advanced proficiency with configuration management tools (Ansible, Salt Stack, Chef, Puppet)
• Linux networking experience with FRR, Bird, or goBGP
• Understanding of networking (TCP/IP, OSI) and Cisco/Juniper devices
• Experience developing applications and writing scripts in Python, Bash, or Go
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Partner across teams to ensure reliability and performance of network infrastructure.
• Define requirements to influence designs and standards.
• Develop automation pipelines for development, testing, and deployment.
• Define SLOs for network infrastructure to ensure high availability.
• Collaborate with Dev and QA to improve code quality and stability.
• Mentor teammates and provide architectural leadership.
