Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and automation of our global network infrastructure.

You will tackle complex routing, data center fabrics, and automation challenges to ensure scalable, reliable, and secure connectivity across Akamai’s platform. You will drive network evolution from architecture through implementation, mentor teams, and manage templates using Python, Ansible, and Jinja2, with emphasis on multi-vendor environments

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Extensive experience in IP network design and scalable BGP routing architecture.
• Understanding of Data Center architecture, including CLOS Fabric and overlay technologies such as VXLAN and EVPN.
• Experience in managing multi-vendor environments (Juniper, Cisco, Arista) and routing platforms like BIRD, FRR and Cumulus.
• Ability to develop and manage network configuration templates using automation tools (Python, Ansible, and Jinja2).

Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and maintaining Akamai's global network infrastructure.
• Developing and maintaining network configuration templates using Jinja2.
• Implementing new hardware platforms and features within the automation framework.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data models and requirements.
• Troubleshooting and deep-dive analysis of complex network issues.
