Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Principal Network Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and automation of our global network infrastructure. You will tackle complex routing and data center challenges to ensure scalability, reliability, and security across Akamai's platform.

Qualifications

12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
Extensive experience in IP network design and scalable BGP routing architecture.
Data Center architecture knowledge including CLOS Fabric, VxLAN and EVPN.
Experience with multi-vendor environments (Juniper, Cisco, Arista) and routing platforms like BIRD, FRR, Cumulus.
Automation proficiency using Python, Ansible and Jinja2.

Responsibilities

Designing, building, and maintaining Akamai's global network infrastructure.
Developing and maintaining core network configuration templates using Jinja2.
Implementing new hardware platforms and features within the automation framework.
Serving as SME for complex network issues with deep-dive troubleshooting.
Creating and maintaining clear documentation and procedures.
