Job summary

A Senior Network Engineer at Akamai Technologies, Inc. will lead design, implementation, and automation of our global network infrastructure. You will tackle complex routing and data center challenges and drive scalable, secure solutions across multiple vendors and platforms.

You will develop templates with Python, Ansible, and Jinja2, mentor others, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet evolving business needs.

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Extensive experience in IP network design and scalable BGP routing architecture.
• Understand Data Center architecture, including CLOS Fabric and overlay technologies such as VxLAN and EVPN.
• Experience managing multi-vendor environments like Juniper, Cisco, Arista and routing platforms like BIRD, FRR and Cumulus.
• Understand end-to-end data flows and traffic patterns.
• Develop and manage network configuration templates utilizing automation tools like Python, Ansible, and Jinja2.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and maintaining our global network infrastructure.
• Developing and maintaining Akamai's core network configuration templates using Jinja2.
• Implementing new hardware platforms and network features within the automation framework.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data models and functional requirements.
• Serving as a subject matter expert for complex network issues, performing deep-dive troubleshooting and analysis.
