Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead design, implementation, and automation of our global network infrastructure.

You will tackle complex routing, data center fabric, and automation challenges to ensure scalability, reliability, and security. You will build and maintain network templates with Python, Ansible, and Jinja2, install new hardware, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet data model requirements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Extensive experience in IP network design and implementation of scalable BGP routing architecture.
• Understanding of Data Center architecture including CLOS Fabric and overlay technologies such as VxLAN and EVPN.
• Experience managing and troubleshooting multi-vendor environments (Juniper, Cisco, Arista) and routing platforms like BIRD, FRR, Cumulus.
• Ability to develop and manage network configuration templates using automation tools like Python, Ansible, and Jinja2.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and maintaining our global network infrastructure.
• Developing and maintaining Akamai's core network configuration templates using Jinja2.
• Implementing new hardware platforms and network features within the automation framework.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data models and functional requirements.
• Serving as a subject matter expert for complex network issues, performing deep-dive troubleshooting and analysis.
