Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead design, implementation, and automation of our global network infrastructure.

You will shape data center fabrics, routing architecture, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure scalability, reliability, and security. Ideal candidates have 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's in CS or related field, with deep knowledge of BGP, data center architectures, and multi-vendor environments.

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Extensive experience in IP network design and implementation of scalable BGP routing architecture.
• Understanding of Data Center architecture, including CLOS Fabric and overlay technologies such as VxLAN and EVPN.
• Experience in managing and troubleshooting multi-vendor environments like Juniper, Cisco, Arista; routing platforms like BIRD, FRR and Cumulus.
• Understanding of end-to-end data flows and traffic patterns.
• Experience developing and managing network configuration templates using automation tools like Python, Ansible, and Jinja2.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and maintaining Akamai's global network infrastructure.
• Developing and maintaining Akamai's core network configuration templates using Jinja2.
• Implementing new hardware platforms and network features within the automation framework.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data models and functional requirements.
• Serving as a subject matter expert for complex network issues and deep-dive troubleshooting.
