Job summary

Akamai Technologies in Cambridge, MA, seeks a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and automate our global network infrastructure. You will drive scalable BGP routing, data center architecture, and multi-vendor strategy across Juniper, Cisco, and Arista platforms.

You will develop automation templates with Python, Ansible and Jinja2, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and tackle complex network issues with deep troubleshooting expertise.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in networking and a Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• Extensive IP network design and scalable BGP routing architecture experience.
• Knowledge of Data Center architecture including CLOS Fabric and VxLAN/EVPN.
• Experience managing multi-vendor environments (Juniper, Cisco, Arista) and routing platforms (BIRD, FRR, Cumulus).
• Understanding of end-to-end data flows and traffic patterns.
• Automation expertise using Python, Ansible and Jinja2.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and maintaining Akamai's global network infrastructure.
• Developing and maintaining core network configuration templates using Jinja2.
• Implementing new hardware and network features within the automation framework.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define data models and requirements.
• Acting as SME for complex network issues; perform deep-dive troubleshooting.
