Job summary

Serco Inc. in Norfolk, VA seeks a Senior Mechanical Assembler to support U.S. Navy shipboard installations on a dynamic team. This role involves supervising a small crew or working independently to fabricate and assemble electromechanical assemblies from blueprints and diagrams.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma, be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance, OSHA and forklift certifications, and 8 years of shipyard experience. Travel up to 10% and lifting requirements may apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
• The ability to obtain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening.
• OSHA certification.
• Forklift certification.
• 8 years of Shipyard experience.
• Read drawings (Apprentice level).
• Drill holes, cut metal, shoot studs & use torque wrench without supervision.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a small team or work independently.
• Follow blueprints, guidelines, and diagrams to fabricate and assemble various electromechanical and electronic assemblies.
• Work onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations in environments with drafts, noise, and temperature variations.
• Demonstrate safe working practices and adhere to Serco’s Zero Harm program.
• Read assembly drawings and sketches to complete a range of assembly tasks.
• Maintain familiarity with standard concepts and procedures in the field.
