Job summary

Serco is seeking a Senior Mechanical Assembler to support U.S. Naval Ships in Norfolk, VA. You will join a dynamic team on high-technology installations, reading blueprints and assembling electromechanical components on ships and military facilities.

The role requires 8 years of shipyard experience, ability to obtain a DoD clearance, OSHA and forklift certifications, and strong safety discipline. Travel and longer weeks may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
• Ability to obtain access to shipyards and pass background/drug screening.
• OSHA certification or ability to obtain.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain.
• 8 years of shipyard experience or equivalent.
• Experience reading drawings and blueprints.
• Ability to assemble mechanical and electrical components.
• Safety-focused with experience in hazardous materials handling.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a small team or work independently.
• Follow blueprints, guidelines, and diagrams to fabricate and assemble electromechanical and electronic assemblies.
• Work onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations with safety as a priority.
• Read drawings and assembly drawings to complete tasks.
• Demonstrate proficiency with power tools and torque wrenches.
• Maintain HAZMAT locker and safety operations.
• Supervise lower level personnel as needed.
