Job summary

Leidos Inc in Reston, Virginia is seeking a senior Modeling & Simulation Engineer to develop multi-domain system models using AFSIM and evaluate their behavior for mission-level decision support.

You will apply OOP techniques, analyze results, and collaborate with DoD program teams to drive operational analysis productivity. This role requires U.S. citizenship with TS clearance eligibility and 50% in-office work within commuting distance of Reston/Arlington.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or related field; 12+ years of experience. Masters degree in the above areas and 10+ years is also acceptable.
• 7+ years of experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis, preferably using AFSIM.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or MATLAB.
• Deep understanding of military operations at mission/campaign level; DoD program experience.
• Expertise in modeling military systems and their behaviors across multiple domains.
• Familiarity with Agile DevSecOps practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Excellent communication; able to collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop models of multi-domain systems and software in mission-level simulations using AFSIM.
• Create advanced models of space, air, maritime, and ground systems; conduct model evaluation and validation.
• Apply object-oriented programming to maximize M&S environment scalability and extensibility.
• Analyze simulation results to communicate system and software effectiveness in real-world contexts.
• Collaborate with SMEs, software engineers, and analysts to maximize Operational Analysis productivity.
• Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to peers to maintain high coding standards.
• Document model development processes, results, and best practices for knowledge sharing.
• Stay updated with the latest AFSIM advancements.
• Assist in creating technical documentation and presentations for stakeholders.
