Job summary

Jacobs’ Structural/Bridge Group is seeking a Sr. Movable Bridge Engineer with extensive experience in inspection and leading design teams.

You will oversee electrical design for rehabilitation and new movable bridge projects across the US and Canada, mentoring engineers and developing detailed drawings and reports. The ideal candidate holds a PE in the US, 15+ years in movable bridge electrical engineering, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET‑EAC Accredited) with focus on Electrical Power Systems.
• Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States.
• 15+ years of experience in movable bridge electrical engineering.
• Strong experience in movable bridge electrical design and inspection.
• Experience with CAD/drawing software (AutoCAD, MicroStation).
• Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Movable Bridge Design Specifications and AREMA recommendations.
• Willingness to travel for short‑term assignments.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on movable bridge projects.
• Drive quality and continuous improvement through innovation.
• Perform existing bridge inspection, condition assessment, and develop rehabilitation strategies.
• Prepare contract drawings, specifications, design calculations, technical reports, and construction cost estimates.
• Develop preliminary details using CAD and coordinate with CAD technicians.
• Serve as a technical resource and mentor junior engineers.
• Develop technical reports and client communications.
