Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Sr. Movable Bridge Engineer to lead electrical design for rehabilitation and new movable bridge projects across the US and Canada. You will oversee inspections, prepare drawings, specs, and cost estimates while mentoring junior engineers.

The role requires a PE, 15+ years in movable bridge electrical engineering, and strong communication skills. Travel for short-term assignments is expected, with a hybrid work policy that supports collaboration across offices and field sites.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET-EAC Accredited Degree); Specialization in Electrical Power Systems preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) in the US required.
• 15+ years of experience in movable bridge Electrical Engineering.
• Substantial experience in bridge electrical design with a focus on movable structures.
• Substantial movable bridge inspection experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and direction on movable bridge projects.
• Commit to quality and continuous improvement through innovation and creative thinking.
• Perform existing bridge inspection, and condition assessment, and develop rehabilitation strategies.
• Prepare contract drawings, technical specifications, design calculations, technical reports, and construction cost estimates.
• Develop preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians for development of contract plans directly related to design work.
• Serve as a technical resource to the project team and mentor young engineers.
• Develop technical reports, documents, client communication and technical memoranda.
