Job summary

Affirm is hiring Staff Software Engineer, Mobile (App Infrastructure) to define the long-term technical strategy for our mobile platform. You will collaborate with product management, design and analytics to ensure sustainability, while owning operations and on-call readiness.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience developing and architecting mobile applications.
• 4+ years using React Native.
• Experience with complex state management; Redux Toolkit bonus.
• React Native SDK updates and debugging JS-native across the boundary.
• Stays up-to-date on native OS releases and their impact on RN apps.
• Experience with mobile testing and observability tooling (Maestro/Appium, Sentry/Crashlytics).
• Proficient with AI-assisted development and agentic tooling.
• Proven track record leading teams to execute large projects.
• Ability to define technical and execution plans and write high-quality code.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long horizon.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics to manage risks and trade-offs.
• Act as a force-multiplier by defining technical solutions and processes.
• Own team operations and availability with monitoring, playbooks, testing and on-call.
• Set code review and design standards and evangelize them beyond the team.
• Mentor and develop team members through feedback and example.
