Job summary

Affirm is hiring for a Senior Software Engineer to lead mobile initiatives, collaborate with product, design and analytics, and drive scalable backend systems. You will influence architecture across React Native and native boundaries, implement experimentation, and own key features from design to launch.

You will work with JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes in a remote-first environment. Strong communication and ownership are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

• Experience leading significant mobile initiatives (React Native or native).
• Experience shipping web apps using React or Vue.
• Total of 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience designing backend systems at scale (Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes).
• Ability to create a technical plan for large features with simple, extensible design.
• Strong ownership and proactive growth mindset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for global teams.
• Equivalent practical experience or a related Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team; lead engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics across the lifecycle.
• Identify and drive solutions for project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Support operations and availability of team artifacts; monitor metrics and on-call efforts.
• Set and improve code review and design standards and share them beyond your team.
• Develop talent by providing feedback and leading by example.
