Job summary

Muonspace seeks a Senior Mission Lead Systems Engineer to own end-to-end mission success from concept through on-orbit operations for high-assurance programs with USG, DoD, IC, and commercial customers. The role combines technical leadership with a broad, end-to-end view of mission design and validation.

This hybrid San Jose position requires on-site presence three days a week in California, with close collaboration across systems, hardware, software, data, and operations teams to tailor

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering and 10+ years in complex system design.
• Technical leadership experience on USG/DoD/IC or commercial programs.
• Experience with system modeling and simulations.
• Strong communication and collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the ultimate technical authority for the mission and lead design and development.
• Coordinate cross-functional trades and ensure mission success.
• Translate customer objectives into verifiable technical requirements.
• Lead requirements traceability, verification, and validation.
• Oversee on-orbit performance monitoring and data pipelines.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, data, ground segment, and operations teams.
• Support other Muon missions and mentor junior engineers.
