Job summary

Muon Space is seeking a Senior Mission Lead Systems Engineer to own end-to-end mission success from concept through on-orbit operations. You will serve as the primary technical interface with customers and cross-functional leads, guiding requirements, modeling, test plans, and risk reduction across government and high-assurance commercial programs.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in engineering; 10+ years in complex system, mission architecture, and/or spacecraft design.
• Experience as technical lead on at least one complex system design for USG/DoD/IC or commercial customer.
• Experience interfacing with external customers.
• Extensive experience in system modeling, systems analysis, and simulations.
• Proven history of system integration and delivery of complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the ultimate technical authority for the designated mission, leading conceptualization, design, and development.
• Drive cross-functional technical trades and decisions to ensure mission success.
• Translate customer objectives into verifiable technical requirements for the mission.
• Interface with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders on all technical matters.
• Manage requirements traceability, verification, and validation.
• Define CONOPS and manage subsystem budgets (power, data, mass, pointing).
• Identify and mitigate mission risks and communicate impacts.
• Coordinate design changes across disciplines through the program lifecycle.
• Lead design, test readiness, and flight readiness reviews.
• Monitor on-orbit spacecraft and data pipelines to ensure mission success.
