Job summary

Muon Space is seeking a Staff Mission Lead Systems Engineer to drive end-to-end mission success from concept through on-orbit operations. You will partner with the Mission Architecture team, deliver rigorous system models, and own technical baselines for demanding missions.

The role emphasizes high-reliability design for government and commercial customers, with a flexible remote work option and a focus on cross-functional leadership across systems, hardware, software, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• B.S. or higher degree in engineering with 10+ years in complex system or spacecraft design.
• Experience as a technical lead on at least one complex system for USG/DoD or commercial customers.
• Proven capability in system modeling, requirements management and cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Mission Architecture team during study efforts to shape mission concepts and baselines.
• Maintain mission-level system models, requirements, interfaces, and behavior models across study-to-implementation.
• Lead the design, development, and delivery of designated missions, including cross-functional trade decisions.
• Define mission CONOPS and manage subsystem budgets (power, data, mass, pointing).
• Coordinate with customers, partners, and internal teams to translate objectives into verifiable technical requirements.
• Monitor on-orbit performance and ensure customer requirements are met.
