Job summary

GHD is seeking a Senior Project Manager – Reclamation & Closure to lead mining projects across the lifecycle, including permitting, infrastructure development, reclamation, and post‑closure work. You will manage cross‑functional teams and oversee budgets, schedules, and quality while driving client satisfaction and project profitability.

The role emphasizes strong stakeholder communication, risk management, and a collaborative approach to complex environmental and mining challenges.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of consulting experience for mining clients in Environmental or Geotechnical site investigations, Mining‑Influenced Water, Mine hydrology/hydrogeology/geochemistry, Mine Planning and Closure, Tailings Management/Design, Mining Engineering, Mining Exploration, Permitting and regulatory compliance in mining (air, NEPA, NPDES, stormwater)
• 5+ years’ experience managing environmental, infrastructure, reclamation and/or closure projects, preferably for mining
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and contractual requirements
• Proven ability to lead client engagements and maintain strong relationships
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to travel to client sites and project locations
• Self-starter with sound judgment and decisiveness
• Formal training with project management best practices a plus, but not required
• Professional registration (PE, PG) a plus

Responsibilities

• Manage complex mining projects and programs from planning and initiation through completion.
• Develop project execution plans, scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams of environmental scientists, engineers, geologists, permitting specialists, and construction professionals.
• Monitor project performance and ensure delivery on scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives.
• Identify and manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Oversee subcontractors, subconsultants, and specialized technical teams.
• Facilitate project meetings and maintain effective communication with clients and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with project management procedures and quality management systems.
• Accountable for project profitability and financial performance.
• Manage project budgets, forecasting, invoicing, accounts receivable, and change management.
• Track project metrics and implement corrective actions as required.
• Ensure efficient utilization of project resources.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to mining clients.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Support business development activities, proposal preparation, interviews, and strategic account planning.
• Contribute to annual sales and growth objectives.
