Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer II to provide technical leadership on complex mining projects across North America. You will support studies through detailed engineering and construction, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to develop practical solutions.

Responsibilities include open pit design, scheduling, cost estimates, and ensuring compliance with standards. Travel up to 20% and strong software proficiency are expected.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Mining Engineering or related field and 6+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• 10+ years of progressive mining engineering experience.
• Experience using Minesight, Deswik, Datamine, Vulcan or similar software.
• Experience using Whittle for optimization.
• Experience in prefeasibility and feasibility studies.

Responsibilities

• Partner with clients to identify and implement forward-thinking mining solutions.
• Provide technical expertise in open pit design and phase planning.
• Evaluate haulage systems, fleet requirements, and equipment strategies.
• Develop and optimize mine schedules and production plans.
• Support development of capital and operating cost estimates.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline engineering teams.
• Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and design packages.
• Participate in design reviews and resolve technical challenges.
• Support construction activities and field investigations.
• Travel ~20% domestically and internationally.
• Ensure work complies with client requirements and standards.

Education

BS/BA in Mining Engineering or related field

6+ years of relevant experience or equivalent
