Job summary

AECOM seeks a Principal Project Manager to lead tailings storage facility and heavy civil infrastructure design across Denver, Salt Lake City, or Phoenix. You will coordinate geotechnical, civil, structural, and environmental disciplines, guiding projects from planning through construction while aligning with business objectives.

You will mentor teams, manage budgets and schedules, and drive health, safety, and environmental excellence. Relocation is available and travel up to 30% is anticipated.

Qualifications

• BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.
• MA/MS Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Emphasis preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership on large-scale tailings storage facility projects, overseeing planning, design, and construction per international best practices (e.g. GISTM).
• Serve as primary client interface, building relationships with mining clients, regulators, and stakeholders while guiding project delivery.
• Direct multi-disciplinary teams in developing design solutions for tailings facilities, underflow sand embankments, cyclone stations, pipelines, seepage control, and water management.
• Champion health, safety, and environmental excellence across all project phases and integrate risk management into design and construction.
• Lead project financial management, including contracts, budgets, schedules, and change management to deliver on time and within scope.
• Implement EVM processes to track cost and schedule performance and mitigate risks.
• Mentor and develop engineering leads and project teams with a culture of innovation and accountability.
• Support business development by leading proposal preparation and capture strategies.
