Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform and interpret complex tests to aid patient diagnosis. You will use all equipment and procedures in the assigned area with independence, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Medical Technology education, and ASCP MT certification is preferred. Three years of related experience is expected, with on-site responsibilities in a busy lab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or successful completion of an accredited four-year school of Medical Technology.
• ASCP certification as MT is preferred.
• Three years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Follows established protocols to perform tests in the assigned area and interprets complex results.
• Interprets and correlates test results with patient history and clinical condition.
• Troubleshoots testing process discrepancies.
• Assists in developing new tests and quality procedures.
• Ensures test results meet the laboratory quality control program.
• Maintains preventative maintenance for equipment and basic repairs.
• Instructs staff on new equipment and procedures.
• Keeps accurate test records in computer systems.
