Job summary

Virginia Department of Health is seeking a Medical Facilities Inspector Supervisor in the Long-Term Care Unit to oversee inspections, surveys, and complaint investigations of licensed healthcare facilities in Northern Virginia. The role supervises inspectors and ensures activities comply with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in articulate and legally defensible manner.
• Knowledge of quality-of-care issues, health care operations, management and service delivery systems.
• Ability to interpret and consistently apply laws and regulations and understand consequence of violations.
• Management skills in planning, analysis, scheduling, team building and providing customer services.
• General knowledge of MS Office Suite.
• Ability to supervise a diverse workforce, which may be dispersed throughout the state in home-based offices.
• SMQT Certification within 12 months; medical clearance for fit testing per OSHA standards within 90 days and annually.

Responsibilities

• Supervise inspection and complaint investigation activities.
• Develop inspector work schedules and review survey reports.
• Address regulatory and survey process questions and verify applications meet requirements.
• Maintain databases reflecting changes to licensed and certified facilities.
• Provide technical assistance to providers; travel as required (80%).
