Job summary

Adventist Health is seeking an experienced leader to manage and coordinate professional and hospital coding functions across Portland locations. The role ensures accurate coding, HIPAA compliance, and alignment with regulations and organizational standards.

It also oversees staffing, training, audits, and performance improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has CPC/CCS certification, a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred), and several years of coding leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience required.
• Master's Degree preferred.
• Five years' related experience preferred.
• One year's leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and monitors the coding program.
• Develops and coordinates educational and training programs for coding staff and related departments.
• Ensures dissemination of regulatory policy changes and coding guidelines.
• Conducts and oversees coding audit efforts and monitors accuracy and documentation adequacy.
• Reports noncompliance issues and corrective action plans to HIM Director and Compliance officer.
• Interacts with diverse stakeholders to facilitate the coding program and motivates staff.
• Evaluates impact of program changes and designs systems to improve data accessibility.
• Reviews denials related to coding and medical necessity and implements preventive actions.
