Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University seeks an experienced Enterprise Coding Manager to lead multi-specialty coding operations and the Coder Auditor/Trainer team. You will strengthen education, compliance, and day-to-day performance across the system.

You will guide staffing, training, audits, and policy development to improve accuracy and consistency while collaborating with providers and revenue cycle teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of management or supervisory experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare setting.
• CPC, CCS, or equivalent certification.
• Knowledge of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPC coding guidelines.
• Knowledge of CMS, JACHO, COP and other regulatory agencies.
• Highly effective communications; oral and written.
• Leadership methods in performance improvement/quality management.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS.
• Knowledge of CMS and compliance requirements.
• Ability to manage staff performance and workflows.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of revenue cycle operations.
• Ability to effectively problem solve and mitigate complex coding scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Guide coding operations, including workflow, staffing, workload distribution, and capacity planning for assigned areas.
• Coach and develop Coding Specialists and coding support staff while building a culture of accountability, teamwork, learning, and respect.
• Partner with other coding leaders on daily operations, staffing needs, productivity, quality, and department priorities.
• Provide leadership and support to the Coder Auditor/Trainer team as they deliver education, audits, onboarding, and staff development.
• Help teams succeed through onboarding, training, cross-training, competency development, remediation plans, and career growth opportunities.
• Lead hiring, performance management, succession planning, workforce planning, and employee development.
• Help staff and leaders navigate change with clear communication and a practical, supportive approach.
