Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a Coding Specialist to join The US Oncology Network at our Richardson, TX location. This full-time hybrid remote role supports the Central Business Office and requires Texas residency.

The ideal candidate will perform medical record coding, assign ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes, and uphold compliance standards. Responsibilities include ensuring 97% coding accuracy, coordinating with physicians for missing data, and maintaining confidentiality of patient information in an office

Qualifications

• Abstracts relevant clinical and demographic information from the medical record to assign ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes.
• Codes with an accuracy of 97% based on QA internal reviews.
• Maintains confidentiality of medical information contained in each record.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, performs medical record coding activities.
• Abstracts relevant clinical and demographic information from the medical record to assign ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes.
• Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
• Records all diagnostic procedures and assigns appropriate procedure codes.
• Requests diagnosis from physicians when information is not recorded.
• Determines and records the required medical information.
• Updates coding procedures and guidelines; coordinates with medical assistants and staff.
• Maintains confidentiality of medical information.
