Job summary

The US Oncology Network is seeking a Coding Specialist to join Texas Oncology in Richardson, TX. This full-time hybrid remote role supports the Central Business Office and requires living in Texas.

You will perform medical record coding activities and ensure code accuracy in line with reimbursement guidelines. The ideal candidate has 1+ year of medical coding experience (oncology preferred) with ICD-9 and CPT-4 knowledge; RHIT certification is a plus for senior level.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year of medical coding experience required, oncology coding preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding systems is highly desirable.
• RHIT certification preferred for Sr level.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts relevant clinical and demographic information from the medical record to assign ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes in accordance with guidelines.
• Identifies principal and secondary diagnoses with minimal error based on national standards.
• Codes with an accuracy of 97% based on QA internal reviews.
• Records all diagnostic procedures and assigns appropriate procedure codes.
• Requests diagnosis information from physicians when data is missing.
• Determines and records required medical information for claims.
• Updates coding procedures and guidelines in coordination with staff.
• Maintains confidentiality of all medical information in records.
