Job summary

McKinstry in Dallas, TX is seeking a Project Engineer III - Mechanical to join our Engineering & Design team. This role supports our DBOM approach, coordinating mechanical systems design, calculations, and multi-discipline work to deliver high-performance buildings.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in engineering, 5 years in 2D/3D AutoCAD and Revit, and familiarity with MATLAB/VBA/Python. Engineering in Training certificate is required; LEED accreditation is preferred and onsite

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required or equivalent work experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in 2D/3D AutoCAD and Revit modeling.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, VBA, Python and structural analysis software preferred.
  • Engineering in Training Certificate required.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • Onsite construction experience welcomed.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Document project correspondence, issues, decisions and directions.
  • Follow McKinstry Engineering standards and procedures.
  • Contribute to tasks on multiple projects and timelines concurrently.
  • Manage team's workload to deliver assigned tasks on time and in the budget.
  • Provide engineering analysis to support sales and early design efforts.
  • Define, communicate, and manage scope, design intent, and design process for supervisor review.
  • Design mechanical systems with calculations, airside and piping systems, equipment selection and multi-discipline coordination.
  • Produce or direct design drawings and BIM for construction.
  • Coordinate with internal and external team members.
  • Identify opportunities for process and technology improvements.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and troubleshoot existing systems.
  • Develop options for design direction and energy conservation strategies.
