Job summary

McKinstry in Spokane, WA is seeking a Project Engineer III - Mechanical to join its Engineering & Design team. The role emphasizes DBOM-driven design for high-performance buildings focused on occupant comfort, energy, and environmental performance.

Candidates should have a bachelor's in engineering and 5+ years in CAD (AutoCAD/Revit) with knowledge of MATLAB, VBA, Python, and structural software. Onsite construction experience is welcomed; LEED and MS Office proficiency are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline required or equivalent work experience.
• Five (5) years of experience in 2D/3D AutoCAD and Revit modeling preferred.
• Familiarity with MATLAB, VBA, Python and structural analysis software (Bentley platform, RISA or SAP 2000) software tools preferred.
• Five (5) years of experience in engineering design or related field is preferred. Onsite construction experience considered and welcome.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams required.
• LEED accreditation is preferred.
• Engineering in Training Certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Documents project correspondence, issues, decisions and directions.
• Follows McKinstry Engineering standards and procedures.
• Contributes to tasks on multiple projects and timelines concurrently.
• Manages team's workload to deliver assigned tasks on time and in the budget.
• Provides engineering analysis to support sales and early design efforts.
• Defines, communicates, and manages scope, design intent, and design process for direct supervisor review.
