Job summary

McKinstry in Austin, TX is seeking a Project Engineer III - Mechanical to join our Engineering & Design team. You will merge innovative problem solving with practical design to deliver high-performance buildings throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities span project management and mechanical design, including 2D/3D modeling, coordination across disciplines, and energy optimization strategies. Onsite construction experience is valued, with a competitive benefits package and growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline required.
• Engineering in Training Certificate required.
• Five (5) years of experience in 2D/3D AutoCAD and Revit modeling preferred.
• Familiarity with MATLAB, VBA, Python and structural analysis software (Bentley platform, RISA or SAP 2000).
• Five (5) years of engineering design or related field experience preferred; onsite construction experience welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Documents project correspondence, issues, decisions and directions.
• Follows McKinstry Engineering standards and procedures.
• Contributes to tasks on multiple projects and timelines concurrently.
• Manages team’s workload to deliver assigned tasks on time and in the budget.
• Provides engineering analysis to support sales and early design efforts.
• Defines, communicates, and manages scope, design intent, and design process for direct supervisor review.
• Proficient in mechanical systems design, including calculations and coordination.
• Produces design drawings and BIMs for construction.
• Pursues understanding of technical foundations of design activities.
