Job summary

McKinstry in Austin, TX is seeking a Project Engineer III - Mechanical to join the Engineering & Design team. This role blends innovative problem solving with practical design to ensure high-performance building operation throughout its lifetime.

You will design mechanical systems, perform calculations, produce drawings, and coordinate with internal and external teams to optimize energy use, safety, and costs on DBOM projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required or equivalent work experience.
• Five (5) years of experience in 2D/3D AutoCAD and Revit modeling preferred.
• Familiarity with MATLAB, VBA, Python and structural analysis software (Bentley platform, RISA or SAP 2000) preferred.
• Five (5) years of experience in engineering design or related field is preferred; onsite construction experience welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Documents project correspondence, issues, decisions and directions.
• Contributes to tasks on multiple projects and timelines concurrently.
• Manages team’s workload to deliver assigned tasks on time and in the budget.
• Provides engineering analysis to support sales and early design efforts.
• Defines, communicates, and manages scope, design intent, and design process for supervisor review.
