Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team is expanding their data center expertise with a Senior Project Engineer, Mechanical. You will guide technical design, mentor engineers, and lead projects from concept to QA/QC while maintaining client relations.

Role covers supervising staff, coordinating across disciplines, and staying current with industry requirements and technologies. Location flexibility is offered for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 10+ years related industry experience preferred.
• Mission critical / data center experience required.
• Registered professional engineer (PE) license or other professional certification based on expertise required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the business development team in new project pursuits by providing input on RFPs/RFQs and participates in project interviews and presentations.
• Manages technical project process and scope of work within own discipline; reviews and tracks scope, schedule, and budgeted hours; finds and resolves all inconsistencies with project manager.
• Delegates tasks to project engineers and designers within own discipline as appropriate.
• Follows quality management process; conducts project reviews and approvals before all QA/QC reviews done by the technical authority.
• Builds and maintains strong client relations; able to understand and articulate project and design requirements, progress, challenges, and troubleshooting to clients and technical staff.
• Leads technical discussions and mechanical workgroups with project stakeholders as their trusted advisor, identifies key requirements, and adapts design accordingly to meet the project objectives.
• Coordinates well with all disciplines to fully integrate work and client requests into design.
• Acts as supervisor and resource to technical design team; supports and assists staff education, training, and development.
