Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Project Engineer, Mechanical to lead the technical design of data center projects. You will mentor project engineers and designers, oversee scope, schedule, and budget, and ensure QA/QC in collaboration with the technical authority.

The role emphasizes cross-discipline coordination, strong client communication, and staying ahead of evolving data center standards across multiple locations including Chicago and San Francisco.

Qualifications

• Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 10+ years related industry experience preferred.
• Mission critical / data center experience required.
• Registered professional engineer (PE) license or other professional certification based on expertise required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the business development team in new project pursuits by providing input on RFPs/RFQs and participates in project interviews and presentations.
• Manages technical project process and scope of work within own discipline; reviews and tracks scope, schedule, and budgeted hours; finds and resolves inconsistencies with project manager.
• Delegates tasks to project engineers and designers within own discipline as appropriate.
• Follows quality management process; conducts project reviews and approvals before all QA/QC reviews done by the technical authority.
• Builds and maintains strong client relations; communicates project progress, challenges, and solutions to clients and technical staff.
• Leads technical discussions and mechanical workgroups with project stakeholders as their trusted advisor, adapts design to meet project objectives.
• Coordinates with all disciplines to fully integrate work and client requests into design.
• Acts as supervisor and resource to technical design team; supports staff education and development.
• Participates in the data center engineering community to stay current with requirements and technologies; may attend meetings and conferences.
