Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team invites a seasoned MCF Senior Project Engineer, Mechanical to steer data center design as a subject matter expert, mentor, and technical lead. You will guide project engineers and designers, ensuring quality from concept to completion while aligning with client needs and industry standards.

The role includes supervising junior staff, coordinating cross-discipline work, and driving continuous improvement in deliverables and design guides for data centers.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in mission critical/data center design concepts.
• Experience working on large scale projects with varied stakeholders.
• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering practices, concepts, principles, codes, and standards in own discipline and basic knowledge of practices and principals in other disciplines.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Able to conceptualize and develop solutions for multifaceted systems and interactions with varied disparate components.
• Strong communicator who effectively conveys scope, schedule, and budget to clients, co-workers, and technical teams.
• Adept at writing comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
• Proficient in Autodesk/BIM 360/Revit; Pipe-Flo CFD knowledge preferred.
• Knowledge of the construction process and interaction with design.
• Analytical, disciplined, and collaborative problem-solver.
• Able to independently resolve complex problems within the engineer’s discipline.

Responsibilities

• Assists business development in new project pursuits by input on RFPs/RFQs and participates in project interviews.
• Manages technical project process and scope within own discipline; tracks scope, schedule, and budgeted hours.
• Delegates tasks to project engineers and designers within own discipline.
• Follows quality management process; conducts project reviews and QA/QC approvals.
• Builds and maintains strong client relations; communicates project requirements and progress to clients and staff.
• Leads technical discussions and mechanical workgroups with stakeholders; adapts design to meet objectives.
• Coordinates with all disciplines to integrate work and client requests.
• Acts as supervisor and resource to the design team; supports staff education and development.
• Remains engaged with the data center engineering community to stay current with trends.
• Identifies opportunities to improve and standardize deliverables across Stantec MCF centers.
• Contributes to design guides, memos, and calculation templates relevant to data center design.
