Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Mechanical/Piping Designer to join our team across multiple US locations. You will design and lay out piping systems and equipment in a 3D environment, produce PFDs, P&IDs, and isometrics with BOM, while coordinating with architects and electrical engineers.

Experience with power plant design (combined cycle, simple cycle, nuclear) and ASME B31.1 is required. Travel to client sites may be necessary; a mentoring role is available for junior designers.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in mechanical discipline or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Minimum 15 years' experience in an engineering design firm.
• Experience with power plant design (combined cycle, simple cycle, nuclear, etc.).
• Experience with ASME B31.1 Power Piping and the design and routing of high pressure steam and feedwater piping.
• Proficient with 2D/3D design software including AutoCAD, Plant 3D, SP3D SmartPlant, AutoCAD PID, Navisworks, BIM, Revit.

Responsibilities

• Designs for process piping and process equipment for power generation facilities.
• Prepare PFDs and P&IDs under supervision of process engineer.
• Layout piping systems and equipment in 3D, including isometrics with BOM.
• Coordinate with architects and electrical engineers on systems.
• Review construction progress in the field and assist commissioning.
• Mentor team members and interface with clients and contractors.
