Job summary

At AtkinsRéalis, we are seeking a Senior Piping Engineer to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This role aligns with our Oak Ridge, TN office and supports innovative nuclear and commercial projects, requiring a senior mechanical or process engineer with deep piping design, analysis, and implementation expertise.

You will create P&IDs and 3D models, perform stress analyses, specify materials and supports, and mentor junior colleagues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in nuclear industry preferred.
• PE preferred.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of industry codes and regulations.
• Able to complete complex technical work with limited supervision.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks.
• Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.

Responsibilities

• Design, layout, installation, and maintenance of piping systems and supports.
• Support mechanical systems design for nuclear and commercial projects.
• Create detailed drawings, P&IDs, and 3D models.
• Perform stress analyses and material/spec selection.
• Prepare technical specifications and vendor recommendations.
• Review technical documents and drawings.
• Lead and mentor junior staff.
• Site experience in construction/commissioning is a plus.
• Follow ASME III and ANSI B31.1 codes.
• Independent work with limited supervision.
