Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Mechanical/Piping Designer to join our team with opportunities in multiple US locations. The role supports design for power generation and industrial facilities, crafting PFDs, P&IDs, and 3D layouts while coordinating with architects and electrical engineers. Travel to client sites is required.

Qualified candidates have 15+ years in engineering design, a two-year mechanical degree, and strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, SP3D, Navisworks, and BIM tools.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in mechanical discipline or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in an engineering design firm.
• Experience with power plant design (combined cycle, simple cycle, nuclear, etc.).
• Experience with ASME B31.1 Power Piping and the design and routing of high pressure steam and feedwater piping.
• Experience with pipe support design.
• Experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section 1 a plus.
• Experience with industrial retrofit projects is a plus.
• Technical skills include AutoCAD, Plant 3D, SP3D SmartPlant, AutoCAD PID, Navisworks, 3D Animation, MS Office, MS Project, BIM, Revit, and learning other software.

Responsibilities

• Preparation, design, modification, coordination, and review of process piping and equipment for power generation facilities.
• Prepare PFDs and P&IDs under supervision of process engineer.
• Layout complex piping systems and equipment in a 3D environment with BOM.
• Coordinate with architect and electrical engineer on system requirements.
• Review field construction progress and participate in commissioning.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and team members across offices.
