Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking a senior mechanical design professional to join a multi-disciplinary team in a remote U.S. role. You will design HVAC systems for large-scale buildings, mentor staff, and lead project activities from schematic through construction administration.

Responsibilities include coordinating with clients, providing QA/QC, and utilizing Revit, Trane Trace, and related tools to deliver compliant, high-quality drawings while contributing to project budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree preferred.
• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering required.
• Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States preferred.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Life Safety codes.
• Ability to work independently in all mechanical disciplines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Capable of engaging effectively with clients.
• Proficient in engineering design software such as Revit/Trane Trace/Trane 3D Plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform and direct complex design of HVAC systems for large-scale buildings.
• Oversee and mentor designers and engineering team.
• Direct work of less experienced staff and conduct performance reviews.
• Quality assurance and independent review of designs.
• Collaborate with Project Manager on schedules and budgets.
• Interface with clients and design team members.
• Oversee Energy Model software complexities.
• Prepare Revit/BIM models from schematic to construction phases.
• Specify mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, and AHUs.
• Review shop drawings for compliance with specs.
• Attend Owner/Architect/Construction Administration meetings.
• Lead value engineering sessions and propose improvements.
