Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking a senior mechanical engineering lead to join a multi-disciplinary team. The role focuses on high-level design of ductwork, piping, and equipment for HVAC systems in large-scale projects, mentoring staff, and ensuring QA/QC. The position is remote within the U.S.

with a preference for candidates near major U.S. hubs. The candidate should have a current PE in the United States, at least 10 years of experience, and strong Revit/Trane design tool proficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of related experience.
• Current PE in the United States required.
• LEED accreditation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Life Safety Codes.
• Advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering.
• Experience in QAQC and independent reviewer roles.
• Experience with engineering design programs (Revit, Trane Trace, Trane 3D Plus).

Responsibilities

• Lead complex design of HVAC systems for large-scale buildings.
• Mentor designers and engineers; direct staff performance reviews.
• Interface with clients and project teams; participate in Owner/Architect/Construction Admin meetings.
• Oversee QAQC and independent project reviews.
• Develop and review BIM/Revit models for HVAC (and plumbing/fire protection as needed).
• Support budget, scheduling, RFI responses, and change orders.
