Job summary

Osborn Engineering seeks a Department Manager with 10+ years of Mechanical Design experience in a consulting environment to lead the Mechanical Engineering group. This role reports to the Director of Mechanical Engineering and requires strong team and client management skills.

Ideal candidates will oversee resource planning, QA/QC, and department utilization while coordinating with PMs across diverse healthcare, commercial, and institutional projects. PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical design experience in a Consulting Engineering environment.
• Ability to lead multiple project teams simultaneously and promote growth.
• Knowledge of mechanical design and load calculation software (Revit, IES VE, HAP, TRACE).
• Experience with Healthcare, Sports, Commercial, Public Sector, Industrial, Education, and/or Institutional projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Project Managers to allocate resources for projects.
• Develop discipline-specific work plans and estimates for department staff.
• Oversee production of work that meets client requirements and Osborn standards.
• Supervise staff to meet department performance goals and utilization.
• Manage client communications and expectations on engineering projects.
• Execute QA/QC process for the mechanical discipline on projects.
• Maintain staffing and backlog forecasts; support recruitment and training.
