Job summary

RTX is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Tucson, AZ to design, develop, document, and sustain advanced test environment systems for Raytheon Missile Defense products. The role is onsite and includes mentoring less experienced engineers across the full lifecycle from design to sustainment.

You will create mechanical test systems for vibration, thermal, hydraulic, RF and electro-optical environments, build reliable production solutions, and drive improvements while meeting security clearance

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with five years of related engineering experience, or an advanced degree with at least three years of related work experience.
• Minimum five years of experience in mechanical design and/or production support.
• Minimum five years of experience with 3D CAD modeling tools (CREO/ProE preferred).
• Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience creating mechanical drawings or engineering documentation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Create mechanical test systems used across vibration, thermal, hydraulic, RF, electro‑optical environments.
• Build and validate test solutions that deliver high accuracy and reliability in production settings
• Diagnose production issues and recommend design improvements that elevate system performance
• Support and coach less experienced engineers across the engineering lifecycle.
