Job summary

Voyager Technologies, Inc. seeks a Mechanical Engineer V (Team Manager) to lead a senior mechanical design team focused on controllable solid propulsion systems. Hybrid/remote options available with base in Folsom, CA, Reno, NV, Huntsville, AL, Long Beach, CA or Remote.

You will oversee ~10 engineers, advance GD&T and tolerance analyses, develop CAD models and drawings, and guide simulations for thermal and structural optimization while ensuring design integrity and program alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or related field with at least 10 years of mechanical design experience.
• Advanced leadership skills with ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities.
• Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills for executive/customer audiences.
• Experience with CAD modeling and technical drawing creation in SolidWorks, including complex GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Hands-on experience in design, development, testing, or manufacturing of controllable solid propulsion systems.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop diverse, high-performing engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex mechanical design challenges for solid rocket motor systems, igniters, pressure vessels, actuators, valves, and rocket thrusters; perform trade-off analyses and drive multidisciplinary optimization.
• Develop 2D/3D CAD models, drawings, and apply GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Set up and validate structural, dynamic, thermal, and combustion simulations for thermal management and structural optimization.
• Apply advanced materials and manufacturing techniques to support manufacturability, welding, molding/casting, and assembly planning.
• Contribute to propellant chemistry evaluation, grain design optimization, and combustion/transient prediction.
• Provide technical direction and programmatic oversight across the mechanical engineering discipline; ensure alignment with mission and contract requirements.
• Mentor and develop engineers through coaching, training, and growth opportunities; foster innovation and knowledge sharing.
• Support resource planning, staffing, budgeting, and hiring; team management represents ~20% of duties.
