Job summary

Woolpert, a global leader in architecture, engineering and geospatial services, seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC/mechanical design on complex projects. You will model airflow, size equipment, and collaborate across disciplines, while mentoring staff and driving QA/QC across deliverables.

This role emphasizes technical excellence, proactive communication, and leadership in a dynamic team focused on growth and innovation. Local candidates with PE preferred.

Qualifications

• BA/BS or MA/MS in related field and 7 or more years related experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
• Experience with building HVAC system design for commercial, mixed-use, healthcare, aviation, hospitality, and/or high-rise preferred.
• Experience designing sustainable building systems, including LEED or other credentials.
• Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proficient in Autodesk Revit 3-D modeling and construction document preparation.

Responsibilities

• Design and support HVAC and mechanical systems for complex buildings, including cooling systems and distribution.
• Perform CFD modeling to evaluate airflow and thermal performance across scenarios.
• Perform cooling load calculations and equipment sizing for high-density environments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate HVAC alternatives and redundancy.
• Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure code-compliant deliverables.
• Develop models, plans, and drawings of mechanical systems per standards.
• Present design concepts and solutions during design reviews and meetings.
• Mentor team members and lead training sessions as needed.
