Job summary

Woolpert is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC/MEP projects within a dynamic team. You will design, model, and review complex systems, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Strong communication and collaboration across disciplines are essential for success.

Qualifications include a PE license, 7+ years in related work, and proficiency in Revit and CFD tools. Travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• BA/BS or MA/MS in related field with 7+ years of experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
• Experience with building HVAC system design for commercial, mixed-use, healthcare, aviation, hospitality, and/or high-rise.
• Experience designing sustainable building systems (LEED, GBI, or similar).
• Excellent presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Experience with discipline-related software applications and calculation tools.
• Extensive experience designing in Autodesk Revit and directing construction documents.
• Experience coordinating design documents between disciplines.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documents.
• Proficient in MS Teams, OneDrive/SharePoint, and MS Office.
• Ability to respond to sensitive inquiries from clients/regulators.
• Able to write technical opinions and thought leadership content.
• Physically and mentally capable of essential duties.
• Willing to travel to project sites or offices.

Responsibilities

• Design and support HVAC and mechanical systems for complex buildings.
• Model and analyze airflow distribution using CFD (6Sigma) for multiple design scenarios.
• Perform cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, and airflow analysis.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate HVAC options and redundancy strategies.
• Perform technical QA/QC reviews to ensure code-compliant deliverables.
• Develop and modify models, plans, and drawings of mechanical and plumbing systems.
• Communicate design concepts during design reviews and coordination meetings.
• Motivate and inspire team members; conduct training sessions as needed.
