Job summary

Woolpert is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC projects, mentor staff, and ensure code-compliant, high-quality deliverables. You will design and review complex building systems, run CFD airflow analyses, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize cooling solutions.

The role requires a PE license, 7+ years of experience, and familiarity with sustainable design practices. This position is on-site in our engineering group with opportunities for growth and training.

Qualifications

BA/BS or MA/MS in related field; 7+ years related experience.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) certification is required.
Experience with building HVAC system design for commercial, mixed-use, healthcare, aviation, hospitality, or high-rise is preferred.
Familiarity with LEED/Green Building Institute or other sustainability credentials.

Responsibilities

Design and support HVAC/mechanical systems for complex buildings, including air-cooled and liquid-cooled systems.
Use CFD modeling tools (6Sigma) to analyze airflow and thermal performance across scenarios.
Perform cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, and airflow analysis for high-density environments.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to evaluate system options and provide QA/QC reviews.
Develop and modify mechanical/plumbing models and drawings per standards.
Present concepts and solutions during reviews and coordination meetings.
Mentor team members and conduct internal training as needed.
