Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design teams for power generation facilities, including traditional and renewable energy projects. You will drive design, procurement, and construction execution, coordinating across disciplines and ensuring quality and safety standards.

The role requires SE oversight of project documents, strong client communication, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while managing scope, budget, and schedule for diverse power

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related degree; FE exam completion acceptable.
• M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
• 7 years of mechanical engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.
• PE license strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Review supplier quotes and write purchase recommendations.
• Develop design documents including PFDs, P&IDs, isometrics, and 3D routing.
• Lead site trips for data collection, field inspections, and commissioning support.
• Prepare technical reports and budgets; manage changes to scope, schedule, and budget.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and lead discipline design on large projects.
