Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design teams across diverse projects including power, process, healthcare and infrastructure. You will guide the mechanical design from concept through construction, coordinating with project managers and other disciplines to meet budget and schedule.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited), 7+ years EPC experience, and a PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited mechanical engineering degree and 7+ years EPC experience.
• PE license preferred.
• Lead discipline design for large projects and delegate work to team members.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API).
• Ability to travel (25%).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept through design completion for project needs and requirements.
• Prepare mechanical equipment specifications, RFQs, data sheets, and bid summaries.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers, clients and other disciplines.
• Develop project schedule, scope, budget and staffing; manage changes.
• Provide QA/QC reviews and coordinate construction administration.
• Build client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
