Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Analysis Engineer in Phoenix, AZ, to support nuclear power uprate projects. The role requires deep thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics expertise, with 10+ years in the nuclear sector.

You will perform heat balance calculations, equipment sizing, and lead engineering reviews, while mentoring junior staff and interfacing with clients to deliver clear technical results.

Qualifications

• A BSME from an ABET-accredited program with strong thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
• 10+ years experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear uprates and turbine retrofit projects.
• Experience in balance of plant evaluation, heat balance, pumps, exchangers, and related systems.
• Excellent technical report writing and calculations for client reviews.
• Familiarity with codes, standards and regulations for nuclear power plant design.
• Proficient with MS Office and strong written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for uprate projects.
• Perform calculations for heat balances, pumps, exchangers and heat sinks.
• Prepare task reports and equipment evaluations for clients.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers on power plant tasks.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present status and proposals.
• Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope.
