Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to support nuclear power uprates and turbine refurbishment projects. The role includes interfacing with clients, developing proposals, and leading engineering tasks within a hybrid work model in the U.S.

Ideal candidates have a BSME from an ABET-accredited program and 10+ years in the nuclear industry, with strong skills in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSME from an ABET-accredited program with strong academics in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• 10+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for nuclear power plant mechanical design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform consulting level work for power uprates in the nuclear industry.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and project status.
• Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates.
• Manage resources and develop task estimates and budgets.
• Review calculations related to heat balances, heat exchangers, and plant hazards.
• Review equipment sizing, optimization evaluation, and selection for uprates.
• Evaluate vendor bids from a technical perspective.
• Lead and mentor junior engineering staff on power plant tasks.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope.
