Job summary

Burns & McDonnell seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design teams across power, process and facilities projects in Atlanta. You will drive mechanical design from concept through construction, coordinate with vendors and disciplines, and ensure deliverables meet schedule and budget.

You will apply ASME/ANSI/API/NACE standards, mentor junior staff, and support client relationships and business development while maintaining QA/QC across projects in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Engineering techniques and procedures knowledge required.
• Strong computing skills, including MS Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading discipline design on large projects and delegating tasks.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Attention to detail, collaboration, and organization.
• Willingness to travel.
• Professional Engineer license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept through design completion based on project needs.
• Prepare equipment specifications, RFQs, data sheets, and bid summaries.
• Review vendor drawings and interface with suppliers and other disciplines.
• Contribute to project schedule, scope, budget, staffing and construction planning; manage changes.
• Apply codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE) to designs.
• Mentor engineers and guide the mechanical engineering practice; QA/QC adherence.
• Produce technical reports and present to clients; maintain client relationships.
